Flame Portals

Flame Portals are a direct way to travel the nether. A Flame Portal (other than a return portal) can have up to 9 destinations. Each destination is randomly selected on first use of each of the void spaces.

Detailed information on how to build a Flame Portal can be found at https://arklegacy-server.net/tips.html#fp.

Note: There been some changes since those instructions were posted:

  • First time portal activation now requires using a Flame Bolt, subsequent travel is done using a Flint & Steel to activate the portal.
  • Return portals also require a Flame Bolt to activate for the first time, be sure to carry one!
  • Each flame portal actually has 9 destinations, not 5 as stated on the website. Each void space will go to a different location.

To activate a flame portal for the first time, strike it with a flame bolt. To use a flame portal, stand on one of the void spaces and strike one of the obsidian blocks with your Flint & Steel. Then stand still and wait, it can take quite a while for the transport to happen.

Note: when using a return portal it doesn't matter which of the 9 void spaces you stand on.
